Balondemu is accused of obtaining money by false pretenses and conspiracy to defraud the company. Investigations revealed that he fraudulently forged medical documents to support his bail application. These actions led to his arrest by a joint task force of the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID), and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).
The court has remanded Balondemu until October 21, 2024, pending further investigations. His case has drawn attention as part of the government’s ongoing efforts to clamp down on corruption in high-profile institutions.
The prosecution is expected to present more evidence when the case resumes later this month.
