Hon. Cadet Benjamin Buturo, the current NRM flagbearer for Bunyaruguru Constituency in Rubirizi District, has called upon parents to raise their children with strong religious values that promote discipline, love, and the fear of God. He encouraged families to enroll their children in faith-based schools, saying such environments help instill good morals and a God-fearing character.

Hon. Cadet Benjamin made these remarks yesterday during the priesthood ordination celebration and thanksgiving Mass of Rev. Fr. Nkahebwa Julius, held at St. Michael High School in Rugazi Catholic Parish, Mbarara Archdiocese.
He also urged parents across the district to prioritize their children’s education as a way of fighting ignorance, illiteracy, poverty, and domestic violence within communities.

Hon. Cadet Benjamin thanked Hon. John Ntamuhira for accepting defeat in the previous NRM elections and stepping down, officially declaring that he will not contest again as an independent candidate. He also urged members of the “Obwenje Obwenje – Amazima Amazima” team to join the “Amani Amani” team for the betterment of the community.

As part of his contribution, Hon. Cadet Benjamin donated UGX 2 million in support of the event.

Meanwhile, newly ordained Rev. Fr. Nkahebwa Julius committed himself to promoting priestly and religious vocations in Rubirizi District, recognizing their importance in spiritual and community development. He pledged to mobilize more youth to consider joining the priesthood and vocational studies.

He emphasized the responsibilities of a priest, including guiding souls, preaching love and unity, and helping people return to God. Fr. Julius expressed deep gratitude to God for allowing him to reach this milestone, acknowledging the challenges he faced on his journey to priesthood. He also thanked everyone who attended the celebration and shared how his calling had grown stronger through life experiences.

According to Rev. Fr. Lawrence Mwesigye, the Deputy Parish Priest of Rugazi Catholic Parish, the ordination was a major blessing for the parish, which now has over 20 priests born from Rubirizi. Fr. Lawrence emphasized the role of church leaders in complementing government efforts through community education, promotion of discipline, love, unity, and support for national development programs. He added that priests contribute significantly to political, economic, and social guidance through counseling, mediation, and preaching peace and cooperation within the community.

Mr. Tumusiime Vincent Bamugaya, Director for Economic Monitoring and Research in the Office of the President, who represented people from Kampala, contributed over UGX 10 million towards purchasing a vehicle for Rev. Fr. Nkahebwa Julius. He congratulated Fr. Julius on his milestone and encouraged parents to raise God-fearing children, stressing that it is their duty to educate and guide them with discipline and religious values. He further urged parents to take full responsibility in shaping their children’s future from an early age.

Meanwhile, the Area Member of Parliament for Bunyaruguru Constituency, Hon. Eng. John Twesigye Ntamuhira, one of the parents of Rev. Fr. Nkahebwa Julius, urged him to work in unity, promote love within homes, and strengthen family bonds. He cautioned against divisive preaching and encouraged religious leaders to serve with humility, promoting unity across homes and denominations without discrimination.

On the same day, Hon. John Ntamuhira also officially declared that he will not contest again for the Bunyaruguru Constituency seat as an independent candidate and promised to support the NRM flagbearer for the good of the party.
