How Side Chicks Drove a Young CEO to Commit Suicide: The Tragic Fall of Nick Imudia

Written By | Agencies
For a man who had spent decades building his reputation, the alleged threats reportedly became emotionally devastating

Nick Imudia reportedly jumped to his death from the seventh floor of his apartment after what many have described as a prolonged battle with emotional, financial and psychological pressure.
Before taking the final step, reports indicate that he shared passwords and personal account details with his brother, Geoffrey, who lives in the United States. Moments later, he reportedly plunged to his death.

Imudia was not an ordinary executive. He was widely regarded as one of Africa’s brightest corporate minds — a respected Nigerian technology and business leader whose career spanned telecommunications, e-commerce and renewable energy. His academic achievements reflected the same excellence that defined his professional life. He held a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Finland, a Master’s degree from Denmark and an MBA in International Business Management.

For nearly two decades, Imudia worked with Nokia, rising through senior leadership positions overseeing operations across West and Central Africa. He later served as CEO of Konga before becoming Group CEO of d.light, where he led renewable energy expansion across Africa and Asia while based in Nairobi.

Over more than 20 years, he built a reputation, a career, a family and a future. But according to reports surrounding the case, his life allegedly began unraveling during his time at d.light.

It is alleged that Imudia entered into a romantic relationship with his personal assistant, Diana Kavesa. What reportedly began as a professional relationship later became deeply personal. Diana allegedly managed his schedule, booked hotels and organized private meetings for them. Reports further claim that she secretly recorded some of their intimate moments.
Initially, the relationship appeared stable. However, matters allegedly became complicated after Diana became pregnant.

According to claims linked to the case, the relationship then turned toxic, with allegations of emotional pressure, threats and blackmail emerging.
Reports allege that Diana demanded certain concessions from Imudia while threatening to release intimate videos and private messages to his wife and company board if he refused.

For a man who had spent decades building his reputation, the alleged threats reportedly became emotionally devastating. Sources familiar with the matter claim Diana sent him some of the clips to demonstrate that she was serious.

Accounts surrounding the case paint the picture of a man trapped by fear, shame and desperation — terrified of losing both his family and professional standing.
Reports suggest that Imudia initially complied with some of the demands. Efforts were allegedly made to quietly manage the situation by transferring Diana to another department after her maternity leave. However, the situation reportedly escalated further.

According to reports, Diana allegedly demanded promotion to the position of HR Business Partner, along with a salary increase from KSh 115,000 to KSh 200,000. The situation later reportedly evolved into negotiations surrounding a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA).

Imudia allegedly sought a legal agreement to prevent exposure of the affair to his family and workplace. Reports claim Diana initially demanded KSh 50 million, while Imudia said he could only afford KSh 5 million. The parties allegedly settled at KSh 8.5 million. Lawyers reportedly drafted the agreement, the money was paid and Imudia also pledged support for the unborn child. For a brief moment, he may have believed the crisis had ended.

But according to reports, another individual later emerged in the saga — Melody Midewa, described as Diana’s friend from Kakamega, who allegedly presented herself as a mediator.
Initially, Melody reportedly appeared sympathetic and allegedly criticized Diana’s demands as excessive. She also reportedly asked Imudia to help her secure a better-paying job, saying she earned only KSh 50,000 monthly. Imudia promised to look for opportunities for her in Uganda.

However, reports claim the situation later changed dramatically. Melody allegedly accused Imudia of sexual harassment and reportedly demanded KSh 3 million to remain silent about the matter. Though shocked, Imudia allegedly agreed to pay KSh 700,000.

He reportedly died before making the payment. Some of the messages reportedly contained in the documentary surrounding the case reveal a man overwhelmed by emotional exhaustion.
“I do not understand what I got myself into in Kenya. God knows I’m tired,” one message allegedly read.

In another message reportedly sent to his lawyer, Imudia allegedly instructed her to continue handling the matter “if anything happened” to him. By the end, accounts suggest he had become emotionally drained, psychologically exhausted and consumed by fear.

A man who had spent decades building an empire allegedly found himself trapped in silence and despair.  And eventually, according to reports, he simply had no strength left to continue fighting.

If you or someone you know is struggling emotionally or experiencing thoughts of self-harm, seeking professional mental health support or speaking to trusted family members, friends or counselors can help.
