Prof. Kamateneti Mauda, a UBTEB Board member representing the Board Chairperson Eng. Silver Mugisha, announced that all vocational and technical institutes will be re-registered.
She mentioned that technical institutes are now able to obtain ISO certificates through UBTEB, allowing their students to secure international employment.
She added that this will necessitate a stronger fight against exam malpractice, as it affects students' chances of gaining employment in foreign countries.
Prof. Kamateneti made these remarks on Thursday during the post-examinations feedback workshop with stakeholders at Nyamitanga Technical Institute in Mbarara City.
During the workshop, several principals raised concerns about supervisors sent by the Board to monitor and verify exams, citing their involvement in exam malpractice.
Mumbogwe Milton, the principal of Kichwaba Technical Institute, stated that some supervisors, due to their authority, persuade others to participate in malpractice.
He revealed that these supervisors establish centers where students collect money and hand it over to the supervisors.
Nasaza Jalia, the Manager of Vocational Education at UBTEB, urged principals and directors of institutions to report any supervisors who facilitate malpractice.
