Arinda was charged with forgery, uttering a false document, and obtaining money by false pretence. He denied the charges and was remanded until his next court appearance. Prosecution alleges that Arinda, together with another suspect still at large, fraudulently created a false appointment letter dated December 4, 2024 (Ref: PO/23), purportedly appointing Mr Nagwomu Alfred as Managing Director of the Uganda Railways Corporation. The letter was allegedly forged to appear as though it had been signed by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

Investigators further allege that the accused extorted more than Shs20 million from Nagwomu, claiming the money would be used to secure the appointment. Authorities said investigations are ongoing to apprehend the second suspect and recover additional evidence related to the alleged fraud.
