Police in Mitooma District, working alongside other district authorities, on Thursday, January 8, 2026, oversaw the receipt of election materials ahead of the forthcoming general elections.

A total of 316 ballot boxes, along with other essential polling materials, were delivered to the district and safely received at the Electoral Commission (EC) offices. Security agencies have since heightened deployment to ensure the safe custody of the materials until polling day.

Speaking to the press, the Greater Bushenyi sub-region police spokesperson, ASP Tayebwa Apollo, said police are fully prepared to safeguard the electoral process.
“We have put in place adequate security measures in liaison with other security agencies to ensure that all election materials are securely stored and protected. Police remain committed to providing a peaceful and secure environment throughout the entire electoral process,” Tayebwa said.

He further urged the public to cooperate with security agencies by remaining law-abiding and adhering to all Electoral Commission guidelines and police directives.
“We call upon the general public to continue partnering with police in maintaining peace and order, and to observe all electoral laws and guidelines to ensure free, fair, and peaceful elections,” he added.
