Kampala — A vehicle was apprehended on the Kampala-Masaka highway for reckless driving, including speeding and careless overtaking, the Uganda Police Force reported. The incident occurred despite multiple instructions to stop from officers acting on the directives of the Director of Traffic & Road Safety, who was traveling on the same route.

The driver, refusing to comply with the stop orders, became increasingly aggressive, prompting a more assertive response from law enforcement. The vehicle was eventually intercepted at a checkpoint in Kyabadaza. Upon inspection, authorities discovered several violations, including an expired permit, illegal sirens, and modified lights.

The driver has been charged and is currently detained at Mpigi Police Station, awaiting a court appearance.
"This incident serves as a stark reminder that reckless driving will not be tolerated," stated SP Kananura Michael. "Such behavior not only endangers the driver's own life but also the lives of other road users."

The Uganda Police Force urges all road users to exercise caution, courtesy, and responsibility when using the road.
