USSSA Boys Football Final

Amus 1–0 Bukedea

Amus College School continued their dominance and cemented their bragging rights over football rivals Bukedea Comprehensive School after beating them 1–0 in the final to lift their first-ever national boys’ football title.
The final match, which concluded the 10-day football bonanza at Lira Town College in Lira City, was a hotly contested encounter, with the two Teso sub-region giants battling before a mammoth crowd.

It was eventual Man of the Match Otim John Brian’s decisive strike—a well-taken free kick from just outside the Bukedea penalty area—that sailed over the goalkeeper and into the roof of the net to settle the contest.

The two sides have developed a fierce rivalry over the past two years, with most recent meetings at various levels going in favour of Amus College. Bukedea Comprehensive, however, had previously defeated Amus last year to win both boys’ and girls’ district football titles, but Amus has since dominated most of their encounters.

The most decorated side in the competition’s history, St Mary’s Kitende, who hold 12 national titles, defeated Kyadondo SS to secure the bronze medal. Chief guest and Commissioner for Physical Education and Sports, Rev. Can. Duncan Mugumya, presented the medals and trophy to the winners.
