Boni Consilii Girls School, Isingiro, has qualified for the final of the National Secondary Schools Girls' Football Championship after defeating defending champions St Noa Girls School in the semifinal on Thursday.

The Isingiro-based side won 3-2 in a penalty shootout after the two teams played to a 2-2 draw in normal time.
Peace Muduwa and Rinah Ariho cancelled out Martha Babirye's first-half opener before Evelyn Katusiime scored a late equaliser for St Noa to send the match to penalties, as provided for under the school football competition rules.

In the shootout, Boni Consilii goalkeeper Sofia Nakazzi emerged as the heroine, saving three of St Noa's penalty kicks after Rinah Ariho and Sheilla Mungutimu had missed for Boni Consilii. Her outstanding performance sparked wild celebrations among the team's players and officials.

Boni Consilii will now face Rines Secondary School, who defeated Amus College School 3-0 on penalties after the two sides played out a goalless draw in normal time.

This is the first time Boni Consilii has reached the final of the national championship. If they win Friday's final, they will become the first school from Western Uganda to lift the National Secondary Schools Girls' Football Championship title.

Coached by Brenda Nassozi, Boni Consilii finished third last year after defeating record champions Kawempe Muslim Secondary School 5-4 on penalties in the bronze medal match.

This year's National Secondary Schools Girls' Football Championship resumed after a two-month postponement. The tournament had been halted during the May championship at Seroma Christian High School after the four semifinalists raised concerns over the absence of players who had been called up to Uganda's national Under-20 and Under-17 women's teams for international competitions.

The final will be played on Friday at Kabaka Kyabaggu Grounds in Wakiso.
