Kayunga District has been confirmed as the host of this year’s edition of the Uganda Primary Schools Sports Association (UPSSA) qualifiers for the Federation of East Africa School Sports Association (FEASSA) Games.
The games, scheduled to take place from July 7–14, will feature Uganda’s primary school teams competing in netball, handball, football, and volleyball for both boys and girls. The best teams will qualify to represent Uganda at the FEASSA Games in Kakamega, Kenya.

The 2025 edition of the FEASSA Games will be held in Kakamega in August and will feature both secondary and primary school teams from Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, Burundi, and South Sudan.

According to Gilbert Orikiriza, an Education Assistant in charge of physical education and sports at the Ministry of Education and Sports, Kayunga won the hosting bid after beating other applicants and is now gearing up to welcome teams from across the country.

The FEASSA qualifiers will take place ahead of the UPSSA National Ball Games, which will be hosted in Yumbe District, West Nile, from August 25 to September 18.

Last year, Uganda clinched 9 gold medals to win the FEASSA Primary Schools title—matching the success of their secondary school counterparts (USSSA)—during the games hosted at Bukedea Comprehensive School in Bukedea.
