The Government of Uganda, through the Physical Education and Sports (PES) Department under the Ministry of Education and Sports, is set to meet with teams selected to represent the country at the upcoming Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) Schools Olympic Games. The games, scheduled to take place from July 28 to August 5 in Algiers, Algeria, will be held for the first time and are exclusively for secondary school athletes under the age of 17. The initiative aims to identify and nurture young sports talent across the African continent.

According to arrangements, Rev. Can. Dr. Duncans Mugumya, Commissioner for Physical Education and Sports, will meet the selected teams on Monday, May 26, in a preparatory meeting. The meeting is expected to assess the teams' readiness for the games and provide logistical guidance.
Dr. Mugumya is also expected to announce the government’s contribution to each of the named teams. However, each team will be responsible for their own travel expenses to and from Algeria. ANOCA has committed to covering accommodation and meals for all participants during their stay in Algeria.

The Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA), which organizes secondary school sports competitions, named the teams based on their performance in the recently concluded USSSA Ball Games I in Bukedea and the 2024 USSSA Ball Games II.
