The USSSA Ankole Zone boys’ and girls’ football champions, St Kagwa Bushenyi High School and Boni Consilii Girls, have both been drawn against strong opposition in the upcoming national games in Mukono and Lira.
The boys’ champions, St Kagwa, were placed in Group L alongside one of the most decorated sides in boys’ football, Kibuli SS, as well as Kabalega SS and Busia SS.

On the other hand, Boni Consilii, who were top seeds in Group I, will battle former champions and girls’ secondary school football pioneers Masaka SS, alongside St Francis Secondary School and Rev. Jabuloni Isooke Memorial School.
Kibuli boasts the second-best record in the country with 11 national titles and one FEASSA crown, with only St Mary’s Kitende ahead of them on 12 titles. Kibuli has also had several encounters against Ankole opposition, where Welden School, Ryakasinga, and Sentah College have fairly matched their quality — something St Kagwa will have to emulate.

For Boni Consilii, Masaka SS are the champions of Masaka Zone, St Francis were runners-up in Mpigi, while Rev. Jabuloni finished third in Acholi.
“We are pitted against almost the top sides in their respective zones, and that is not simple. But we shall have to make a serious go at every match we play. We want to work hard and ensure another qualification to the regional games,” said Boni Consilii games teacher Primus Ngabirano.
The girls’ football competition under USSSA Ball Games I kicks off on Wednesday at Seroma Christian High School in Mukono, while the boys’ football tournament starts on May 12 in Lira.
